The Matija Gubec association, based in Tavankut near Subotica, presented dozens of hand-crafted Easter eggs made by around ten local artisans, inspired by motifs of the upcoming holiday.
Organisers said the works represent more than decorative objects, describing them as part of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Bunjevci Croats, reflecting religious themes and ties between people, land and faith.
Straw artwork and decorated Easter eggs are seen as key identity markers of the local Croatian community, they added.
As part of its pre-Easter programme, the association has also organised workshops in straw art, a bicycle Stations of the Cross, and plans to stage traditional customs linked to Holy Week and Easter Monday.
Founded in 1946, the Matija Gubec association is known for preserving the traditions of Bunjevci Croats, including the distinctive folk craft of making images and objects from straw.
