Although the folk dance workshop attracts the largest number of participants, attendees also learn about local customs, history, tamburica music, straw art and the traditional way of life of the Bunjevci Croat community, chief organiser Ivica Dulić said.
The 15th edition of the seminar has brought together around 50 participants from across the region and Germany.
During the multi-day programme, participants learn traditional Bunjevci dances, including the bunjevačko, momačko and gajdaško kolo, with a focus on authentic technique, style and performance.
Ivančica Pogrmilović, a folk dance instructor from Samobor, said the preservation of tradition in Tavankut was an example of the dedication of a small community.
"An extraordinary cultural heritage has been preserved in a relatively small area, along with a sense of community that is rarely seen today," she said.
