The exhibition presents to Chinese audiences the development of Trakošćan from a medieval fortress into one of Croatia’s most prominent museums and cultural monuments, with an emphasis on heritage preservation, museum interpretation and modern approaches to presenting cultural content.
Alongside the opening, an international expert forum dedicated to intangible cultural heritage and museum interpretation was held.
The forum brought together museum professionals, academics and cultural workers from several Asian and European countries and opened discussions on contemporary challenges in protecting, interpreting and presenting cultural heritage.
It was opened by Goranka Horjan, director of Trakošćan Castle, who spoke about the relationship between tangible and intangible heritage, the role of museums in modern society, and the challenges posed by new technologies and artificial intelligence in interpreting cultural heritage.
She stressed the need to preserve human knowledge, experience and expert interpretation as key elements of museum work.
The participants were also addressed by Croatian Ambassador to China Dario Mihelin, who highlighted the importance of cultural cooperation between Croatia and China and the role of museum collaboration in strengthening mutual understanding.
Representatives of the Croatian National Tourist Board also attended the event, promoting Croatia as an attractive cultural and tourist destination.
In addition to Chinese hosts and Croatian representatives, the forum featured presentations by museum experts and researchers from countries including South Korea, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Indonesia, Morocco, Armenia and Mongolia.
