The “Cro Fond” Foundation, which is implementing the programme, has invited farmers to apply by 3 July. Selected applicants will receive between €500 and €10,000.
Foundation manager Lazar Cvijin said it is the first programme of its kind directly targeting individuals and family farms within the Croatian community in Serbia.
“For the first time we are reaching out to the wider community, to people who expect concrete assistance. This is an important step forward as it shows we are addressing the needs of our people and trying to help where possible,” he said.
Cvijin said funds will be paid after project implementation and that the available budget will allow support for at least 250 beneficiaries.
After the application deadline on 3 July, submissions will be reviewed by a special committee, with the first contracts potentially signed in early August.
The call for applications states that one of Croatia’s interests is strengthening ties with Croats in Serbia, supporting their continued presence, and ensuring their full equality.
The initiative is described as a continuation of support for Croats in Serbia and was signed on behalf of the Croatian government by the Central State Office for Croats Abroad.
The Croatian National Council, which founded “Cro Fond”, said it is the first agricultural support programme of its kind for Croats in Serbia, many of whom rely on farming for their livelihood.
