It provides for coverage of the university’s scientific research, projects, conferences, teaching and social initiatives, as well as joint media and educational activities.
Kovačić said the agreement marked a new chapter in systematically monitoring and strengthening ties with Croats outside Croatia, carrying both practical and symbolic importance. He noted the initiative came from the University of Mostar, the only Croatian-language university outside Croatia, giving it added strategic value.
He added that with this agreement Hina, as the largest news agency in Croatia and the wider region, would further reinforce its role as a relevant and responsible source of information, particularly on issues concerning Croats abroad.
Kovačić also highlighted that around 20% of the university’s students are Croatian citizens, making it an important educational and social hub for them.
Odak said the agreement would strengthen links with media institutions and improve practical training opportunities, giving students insight into modern journalism practices while increasing the university’s visibility through Hina’s news system.
He added it would also enable joint projects, expert workshops and guest lectures, further enhancing teaching and research quality.
The University of Mostar is the only public higher education institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina offering instruction in Croatian. It has around 8,500 students and comprises 12 units, including 11 faculties and an Academy of Fine Arts, with about 20% of students coming from Croatia.
