Croatian authors to participate in Leipzig Book Fair

ZAGREB, 12 March (Hina) - Croatia will present its literature at the Leipzig Book Fair, one of Europe's key spring literary events, to be held on 19-22 March, the Ministry of Culture and Media said.

Among participating authors are Slobodan Šnajder, Marina Vujčić, and Kristian Novak, alongside Marko Gregur, Ena Katarina Haler, Jasen Boko, and Želimir Periš. The programme is organised with the support of the Traduki network and the Goethe-Institut.

Authors will present German editions of their works through readings, discussions and media appearances. Croatian authors will also take part in panel discussions on translation and dialect literature, while musician Sara Renar will perform at the "Balkan Night - Literature & Music" programme.

A Croatian stand will showcase new titles by domestic authors, including fiction, poetry, non-fiction, comics and children's books, as well as German-language editions of works by contemporary Croatian writers.

Author Miljenko Jergović will receive the fair's Award for European Understanding for the German edition of his book Trojica za Kartal, published by Suhrkamp Verlag.
