Eastern Croatian town gets new mayor who ends 30-year HDZ mayoral control

ZAGREB,  16 Dec (Hina) - The eastern town of Otok on Sunday held the mayoral runoff between Slavko Grgić of the Homeland Movement (DP) and Ivan Žagar of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), with the former garnering 53.11% of the vote (1,325 ballots), and thus becoming the first mayor in Otok who is not from the ranks of the HDZ.
