Researchers work on new cell therapy against cancer in Germany
The pharmaceutical technical assistant Michael Nemetz and the Biological laboratory technician Simon Kuebler (R) work on a new form of personalized cell therapy against cancer with highly specialized technology inside a clean room at the Fraunhofer Institute for cell therapy and immunology (IZI) in Leipzig, Germany, 20 November 2017. The Fraunhofer Institute is working on the joint project with the Novartis Pharma AG in order to properly develop the new form of therapy, the Chimeric antigen receptor therapy (CART). It requires the reprogramming of the patients· own immune cells to treat their cancer. Cancer cells will thus be recognized and destroyed.
