The three-day seminar will take place at the Sociedad Española club in San Salvador de Jujuy, the provincial capital in north-western Argentina, near the borders with Bolivia and Chile. It will feature traditional Croatian dances from different parts of the country and is open to members of the Croatian community, their descendants and anyone interested, across all generations.
The seminar will be led by Guillermo Terrazas Muller, director of the Zrinski folklore ensemble, a music and dance educator and instructor of Croatian folk dancing.
Terrazas Muller has been involved in folklore for more than 45 years and has founded several folk groups in Argentina. He has taken part in numerous festivals, seminars and cultural events in both Argentina and Croatia.
The Jujuy Croatian community has also launched the process of establishing a formal Croatian cultural and arts association. The initiative was started by Marcos Didolich and Ana María Sonjic, with the participation of Croatian community members and their descendants.
Organisers see the seminar as an important step towards strengthening links within the local Croat community and preserving Croatian identity and cultural heritage for future generations.
Argentina is home to around 300,000 people of Croatian descent, making it the South American country with the largest Croatian community, according to the Central State Office for Croats Abroad.
