Croatian cheesemakers join French bid for largest-ever goat cheese platter

ZAGREB, 20 Aug (Hina) - Thirteen Croatian cheesemakers, bringing 30 varieties of cheese, will join a French project this Sunday to create the world's largest goat cheese platter and seek an official Guinness World Records certificate.

Two producers from Zagreb County - Sirana i farma koza OPG Grčević from Gradec Pokupski and Sirana i farma koza Bresnica from Jastrebarsko - will take part in the event.

The Croatian delegation will be hosted by French cheesemakers at a special stand called "Croatian Goat Cheese Team", according to the Croatian Association of Small Cheesemakers (SirCro).

Cheeses from producers in 12 Croatian counties will be included in the record attempt, alongside goat cheeses from France and other countries.

The event is being organised in the historic Périgord region, now Dordogne department, by the Caprin Dordogne Périgord association and regional partners. The final event and tasting will be held on Sunday, 23 August in Meyrals, when the public and experts will be given an opportunity to exchange knowledge and showcase the richness and diversity of goat cheeses.
