The traditional chivalric competition in Sinj was watched by several thousand visitors, including Alka patron President Zoran Milanović, Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
Milanović congratulated Radanović on what he called an excellent ride and an outstanding result, as well as all the other riders and lance bearers for an "exceptional Alka the likes of which I can't remember".
Looking ahead to next year's competition, he wished everyone "peace, the peace of cannons and rifles, good health for everyone, and the best possible earnings".
"Long live the Alka!" the president said.
The Sinjska Alka, in which mounted riders use lances to strike a metal ring, is held to commemorate the victory over Ottoman invaders in 1715 and has been inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2010.
