Anić began writing his first book while staying in Croatia but maintained a strong connection with Paraguay, where he lived in the early 2000s. He said the first pages were written in a notebook bought in Asunción, while his Zagreb notes blend memories of life in Paraguay with reflections on everyday experiences and friendships formed during his years there.
The book is not merely a travelogue but a journey through memory, migration and identity-building. It brings Zagreb and Asunción together as settings from which the author reflects on belonging and connections that endure across distance.
The presentation in Asunción holds special significance for Anić, who developed part of his professional career in the Paraguayan capital through media and editorial projects, as well as in the Argentine city of Resistencia. In this context, the book serves as a space for strengthening cultural ties between Paraguay, Argentina and Croatia, highlighting literature's role as a bridge between communities, memories and shared identities.
The event will take place on Friday evening local time at the National Library of Paraguay and admission will be free.
The book will be presented by Paraguayan journalist Rober Irrazábal and Argentine journalist and university professor Mónica Kreibohm, representing the De La Paz publishing house, which published the book.
Around 850,000 Croats and their descendants live in Latin America, including many journalists and writers.
