The Rijeka-based branch was initiated by Liburnia Pomorska Agencija, Jadranski pomorski servis, Jadroagent and Luka Rijeka, with founders representing 14 companies and bringing together around 30 members from the maritime and business sectors.
Marin Škufca, president of the International Propeller Club Rijeka and executive director and co-owner of Liburnia Group, said it was important for Rijeka to have a strong, expert and internationally connected forum contributing to the development of an open and competitive port system.
He said one of the first steps would be dialogue with the Rijeka Port Authority on traffic flows and development plans, followed by a systematic analysis of opportunities in the Rijeka maritime area. This would include port infrastructure, concession and market relations, available economic capacities, and the role of local and international companies in the maritime and logistics value chain.
“We want to open space for dialogue based on data, industry experience and international best practice,” he said.
The International Propeller Club is a global business organisation that has, since 1927, connected companies, institutions and professionals in the maritime industry, international trade, logistics and related sectors.
