Until Sunday, 28 June, institutions representing Croats in Hungary will be presented in Split, Kaštela, Marina, Klis and Solin, including the Croatian State Self-Government in Hungary, which is the highest political and cultural representative body for the Croat minority in Hungary, as well as the non-profit cultural, information and publishing company “Croatica” and the cultural and artistic society “Tanac” from Pécs.
They will be joined by Ivan Gugan, representative of the Croatian minority in the Hungarian Parliament, as reported by the Croatian Heritage Foundation (HMI).
The aim of the event is to introduce the Croatian community living across the Drava River for nearly six centuries to the wider public in Croatia.
Speaking at the opening, Ante Ćaleta, head of the Split branch of the Croatian Heritage Foundation (HMI), said the long-running project showcasing the Croatian ethnic minority across 12 European countries is designed to strengthen cultural cooperation and reinforce national identity, enabling compatriots to feel a “heartbeat of the homeland” in the south.
The Days of Croats in Hungary in Split-Dalmatia County conclude on Sunday with a solemn Mass at the Church of St Joseph in Mertojak, Split.
