Opposition doubts new governor's independence, HDZ hails him as outstanding expert

ZAGREB, 17 June  (Hina) - While debating the appointment of Ante Žigman as the new governor of the Croatian National Bank (HNB) on Wednesday, opposition MPs questioned his independence, citing the fact that his wife serves as a minister in the government and referring to what they described as "baggage from the past".
