Croatian-language media in Vojvodina have reported that the project promotes the heritage of naïve sculpture in Ernestinovo and straw art in Tavankut, while creating modern spaces for children, young people and local creators, project manager Renata Kuruc said after a workshop titled "Intergenerational Tourism" in Subotica. It also aims to develop tourism based on naïve art heritage.
Of the total value, about €3.4 million is earmarked for the Ernestinovo centre and €312,000 for HNV activities in Subotica.
Ernestinovo mayor Marijana Junušić said the centre would pass on sculptural skills and foster appreciation of local tradition among young people.
INNATUS – Initiative for Naïve Art and Sustainable Tourism is co-financed under the EU IPA Croatia-Serbia programme. Several events involving local primary school children have already been held in Ernestinovo and Subotica.
Straw art is a form of naïve art using straw, developed on farmsteads in northern Bačka.
