The programme is intended for young people of Croatian descent as well as other students from Croatia and abroad who wish to become better acquainted with Croatia, broaden their knowledge of its culture and improve their proficiency in Croatian as a second language (L2), the HMI stated.
It consists of academic Croatian language instruction organised by the University of Zagreb, alongside a Croatian culture programme run by the Croatian Heritage Foundation, including lectures and cultural activities.
The academic component comprises 120 teaching hours (one teaching hour lasting 45 minutes), including field classes and examinations. Classes are held for five hours a day (Monday to Friday), or 25 hours per week over four weeks.
The programme is also open to teachers of Croatian as a second language who wish to undertake professional development in the field of language teaching and acquisition.
The deadline for applications is 22 May, with tuition fees due by 31 May. The deadline for returning the questionnaire and Croatian language placement test is 8 June, while the formal opening of the School is scheduled for 22 June.
The Croatian Culture examination will be held on 10 July, the final written Croatian language examination on 16 July, and the final oral examination and diploma ceremony on 17 July.
