DZS: Area sown with cereals up 4.5%

ZAGREB, 19 Feb (Hina) - The total area sown in Croatia in the 2025 autumn sowing season rose by 7.5% year on year to 258,000 hectares, while the area under cereals increased by 4.5% to 232,000 hectares, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) said, citing data as of 10 November 2025.

In the structure of cereal areas, winter wheat accounted for 68.5% and winter barley for 22.4%. A total of 159,000 hectares were sown with wheat, up 9.7% on the year, while barley covered 52,000 hectares, down 8.8%.

The area under oilseed rape increased to 26,000 hectares, up by 8,000 hectares or 44.4% compared with 2024, accounting for 10.1% of the total area sown in the 2025 autumn season.
