Croatia win bronze at Men’s EHF EURO 2026

ZAGREB, 1 Feb (Hina) - The Croatian national handball team won the bronze medal at the European Championship after defeating Iceland 34–33 (17–14) in the third-place match in Herning, Denmark, on Sunday.

This is the seventh medal for the Croatian national team in the history of the European Championships, and the fourth bronze (2026, 2016, 2012, 1994), alongside three silvers (2020, 2010, 2008).

16th medal for Croatian handball at major tournaments

It is also the 16th medal for Croatian handball at major tournaments, and the second in a row following last year’s silver at the World Championship.

Iceland remains with a single bronze from the 2010 European Championship.

Croatia's team was led to victory by Tin Lučin, who scored nine goals, while Ingi Omar Magnusson scored 12 for Iceland, including 10 from seven-metre penalty throws.

Later, Denmark and Germany will face each other in the final. Both teams are aiming for their third European Championship title. Denmark previously won in 2008 and 2012, while Germany were the European champion in 2004 and 2016.
