Croatia's Šoštarić in All-star Team at Men’s EHF EURO 2026

ZAGREB, 1 Feb (Hina) - The right wing of the Croatian national handball team, Mario Šoštarić, has been selected for the All-Star Team of the EHF EURO, while Denmark’s Matthias Gidsel has been named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, the organisers  said on Sunday.

Ahead of the Men’s EHF EURO 2026 final on Sunday, the tournament’s All-star Team has been chosen after thousands of fan votes, input from an expert panel and confirmation of the EHF, it was reported on the website of the European Handball Federation.

The awards for Player of the Tournament, Young Player of the Tournament and Best Defensive Player were also announced.

Matthias Gidsel is the first Dane to be named MVP at an EHF EURO, while goalkeeper Andreas Wolff has once again been selected for the All-Star Team, following his previous selections in 2024 and 2016, when he played a key role in Germany’s European Championship triumph.

The All-star Team attracted almost 12,000 votes through the Home of Handball app.
