Vojvodina government pledges continued support for Croatian minority projects

ZAGREB, 15 Jan (Hina) - Vojvodina's provincial government head Maja Gojković on Thursday met a delegation from the Croatian National Council (HNV) in Serbia, expressing readiness to continue cooperation on issues affecting the Croatian minority in the province.

The meeting highlighted projects including the restoration of the birthplace of Ban Josip Jelačić and the renovation of St George's Church in Petrovaradin.

Gojković said the provincial government "continually supports projects that contribute to preserving cultural diversity and protecting cultural monuments" and expressed willingness to continue collaborating on these initiatives.

HNV representative Marin Piuković thanked the government for supporting and co-financing the weekly newspaper Hrvatska riječ, and described the Croatian community as "a loyal and active community that respects Serbia's institutions."
