Zagreb to host 2026 European wheelchair basketball championship

ZAGREB, 13 Dec (Hina) - From 26 June to 7 July 2026, Zagreb will host the Division B European Wheelchair Basketball Championship, organised by the Croatian Wheelchair Basketball Federation and the Croatian Paralympic Committee. Ten national teams will compete, with the top two earning promotion to Division A.

The Croatian team will aim for its first-ever place in Europe's elite class. Officials highlight the event as a major promotion for wheelchair basketball, one of the most-watched Paralympic sports, citing 568,000 spectators at the 2024 Paris Games.

Croatia's wheelchair basketball federation started in 2007 with three clubs and has grown to 11 today. The national team has previously come close to Division A but has yet to qualify.
