The large roofed structure, set amidst fields, traditional Bunjevci farmsteads, and the local church, will host and support the growing number of harvest festival events organised annually by the Dužijanca Association.
"The new covered space will serve as a place for meetings, socialising, and creating new activities that will enrich our community and traditions," Marinko Piuković, director of the Association, said at the opening ceremony.
The total project cost was €98,000, of which the Croatian Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds provided €81,507 through a cross-border cooperation programme.
The city of Pakrac was also a project partner.
The Croatian National Council in Serbia described the pavilion as a major project and supported it through the Ministry’s funding competition.
The Dužijanca Association hosts an annual competition at the Risarski Salaš every July, where participants compete in traditional hand-harvesting. This event, part of a year-long programme of harvest festivals among the Croats of northern Bačka, attracts several thousand participants, spectators, and admirers of local cultural traditions each year.
