Croatian prisons overcrowded, lack medical staff and privacy, ombudspersons warn

ZAGREB, 7 June (Hina) - In Croatian prisons, people sleep on the floor, toilets are only a metre away from the beds, and inmates wait months for medical care. Overcrowding, lack of healthcare and privacy, as well as ineffective legal protection, are long-standing problems highlighted by ombudspersons and lawyers.
