Feline spectacle of the year: WCF Cat Olimpia comes to Zagreb for the first time

ZAGREB, 29 May (Hina) - On 31 May and 1 June, Zagreb will become the global centre of feline excellence as it hosts WCF Cat Olimpia 2025 for the very first time. Held at Family Mall, this prestigious international cat show will bring together more than 350 cats from around 30 countries.

Organised by the Felis Croatia Association under the patronage of the World Cat Federation (WCF), the event promises a rich and varied programme. Doors open at 9am, with activities running until 6pm on both days.

Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see 31 different breeds in person, including some of the world’s most unique and captivating. From the world’s smallest breed, the Singapura, known for its petite frame and strikingly large eyes, to the majestic Maine Coon, often described as a "gentle giant", the show will also feature the stately Chartreux of French origin, the playful Kurilian Bobtail with its pom-pom-like tail and dog-like temperament, and many more.

Cats will be judged across 19 different rings, according to the strict standards of the World Cat Federation. Eighteen international judges will evaluate the entries from 9am to 6pm. The highlight of each day, the Best in Show competition, begins around 4pm, showcasing the most beautiful and outstanding cats of the exhibition.

But WCF Cat Olimpia 2025 is more than just a beauty pageant. According to organisers, it is also a hub for education, inspiration, and connection among cat lovers. A dedicated VETTI Corner will offer visitors expert veterinary advice on feline health and care.

Adding a unique local touch, the secretary of Felis Croatia has created a special way to showcase Croatian heritage, through rosettes featuring motifs from traditional folk costumes of various regions. These handcrafted awards, produced by @Christine Ribbon Rosette, will allow prize-winning cats from around the world to take a piece of Croatian culture home with them.

"We are proud to have brought such a prestigious exhibition to Zagreb and honoured to welcome a true legend of the feline world, Anneliese Hackmann, president of the WCF. With her vast knowledge, she is often referred to as a walking encyclopaedia," said Trpimir Sulić, president of Felis Croatia and an international judge.

The exhibition is supported by the VETTI Group, Purina Pro Plan, Royal Canin, Monge, Josera, Maistra Hospitality Group, Pet Almighty Photography, and Ubastija.
